IPA Ready to Hold 35th IPA Convention and Exhibition

JAKARTA: The Indonesian Petroleum Association (IPA) will hold the 35th IPA Oil and Gas Industry Convention and Exhibition on May 18-20th at the Jakarta Convention Centre.

IPA President Ron Aston said this event is planned to be opened by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

“This year, the event will carry the theme “Indonesia Energy: Growth, Security, and Sustainability”. We believe it is very relevant to Indonesia today, where Indonesia requires energy sustainability to achieve 6% economic growth,” he said in a press conference today.

The event will feature four sessions chaired by government officials, senior executives from the oil & gas industry, consultants and experts who will share their views and lead discussions on the current issues faced by the industry

“A new addition to this year’s exhibition is the Energy Edutainment Corner, which is designed to allow visitors, including high school students, college students and media to learn more about oil and gas industry development and activities in Indonesia,” Ron added.

IPA Vice President Sammy Hamzah hopes the event will contribute to promote oil and gas industry investment including in Eastern Indonesia, as well as come up with various recommendations to be considered by the government in policy implementation.

“Although we do not have exclusive session to discuss investment challenges in Eastern Indonesia, which possesses vast oil and gas reserve, but we always provide good information on the amount of potential investment and its risk to the investors.”

The 35th IPA Oil and Gas Industry Convention and Exhibition Chairman, Vincent Soetedja said this year, the convention would be held in an area with over 4,000 square meters designed to accommodate over 4,000 visitors and more than 150 companies are expected to participate in the event.

“Last year, the IPA annual event attracted 100 companies and 3,300 visitors, occupying 3,100 square meters,” he explained.
