IPA Invited to a National Forum organized by the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy and BAPPENAS

On Wednesday, February 9, 2011 the Indonesian Petroleum Association was invited to speak in a National Forum related to the potential of the Energy Sector for the acceleration and expansion of the National Development which was organized by the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy and BAPPENAS. 

This meeting was organized as a follow up to the directives of the President of RI at the Retreat which was held in Bogor on 30 December 2010 whereby the Development of Six (6) Indonesian Economic Corridors (PKEI) would be done through the preparations of a Roadmap on the Acceleration and Expansion of the Development of the Indonesian Economy 2011 - 2025.

As the working sessions of this meeting are organized by sector, the energy sector’s discussion was chaired by Ibu Evita Legowo, Director General of Oil and Gas and participated by representatives of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association, the Indonesian Aromatics, Olephin and Plastics Association, the Indonesia Biofuels Producers Association (APROBI) and the IPA.

In the IPA presentation, Pak Sammy Hamzah conveyed to the Government the importance of fostering a positive investment climate to attract the investment needed to maximize Indonesia’s hydrocarbon potential to accelerate Indonesia National Development.

The session concluded by discussing together the overall strategy, targets and challenges of the Energy Sector in 2025 to be compiled with other sectors and to be reported to the President RI.
